Where are the companies located, what type of work they are doing, and what do techies think about working there
The job market for technical positions has changed significantly in recent years. Positions are now posted almost exclusively by recruiting companies, whose ads give absolutely no identifying information about the actual hiring company. Recruiter ads are not distinguishable and consist of little more than a checklist of skillsets. Good technical workers are tired of seeing these anonymous job postings that all sound the same and that do not give any information about the actual company doing the hiring.
It's time that the technical search process was changed, and this site is dedicated to helping that occur.
Looking for work is a two-way street
The company wants to find the best-fitting employee they can, and you want to find the best-fitting company for your skills and career goals. You are in the best position to find that fit, and you can find that fit given access to information about which technical companies are in your location and what type of work they are doing.
Whereco is not a job board. It is a searchable database containing company and work information that is entered by your peers. Given this information, you can follow-up on the companies you are interested in to determine if they are hiring and, if so, pursue the potential opportunities. Job searches used to be successfully conducted this way... and at Whereco we think that they can be done that way again.

Our sister job-board accepts solely direct-hire, principals-only job posts: www.recruiterless.com.
